#1 Monster goat
A video of a deformed-looking male goat has been doing the round online for over a month, with many referring to the animal as a ‘goat monster’. It turns out he’s actually just a Damascus Goat.
Not saying we should judge an animal by its looks alone – in fact Damascus goats are in many ways superior to most of the common -looking breeds. But there’s no arguing the fact that these guys look like they ran face first into a wall at full speed.
Damascus goats have been bred in Syria and other Near East countries for millennia, but many of us Westerners only learned about their existence a few months ago, when an Egyptian man called Ahmed Ramadan posted a video of a bizarre looking male goat on Facebook. People were so freaked out about its appearance that they started sharing it and referring to the animal as a “Goat Monster”.
While the specimen in question was most likely the result of extreme animal breeding to emphasize some of the breed’s physical traits, a simple Google search of “Damascus goat” reveals that most specimens have a very peculiar look about them. They have a blunt snout and raised nasal bridge, their ears look like cartilaginous tubes growing out of their skull and their eyes are located way up on the side of their head.
Interestingly, Damascus goats have a very normal looking snout when they are young, apparently to make it easier for them to suckle from their mothers, and only grow into their bizarre look over time. However, they are born with these extremely long ears, which are most often cut into shorter, tubular nubs.
#2 Three headed frog
Children in a nursery were shocked when they spotted a three-headed frog hopping in their garden. The creature – which has six legs – has stunned a BBC wildlife expert who said it could be an early warning of environmental problems.
Laura Pepper, from the Green Umbrella nursery in Weston-super-Mare, said: “We thought it was three frogs huddled together at first. It is very strange. The children couldn’t believe it.”
Mike Dilger, from the BBC Natural History Unit, said: “I have never seen anything like this. Frogs are primitive animals – so the occasional extra toe is not that unusual. But this is very unusual.”
All the creature’s eyes and legs appear to function normally, but it is not known whether it eats using all three of its mouths.
The amphibian was kept in a container for several hours but hopped away later while nursery staff were showing it to curious parents.
#3 Red-Faced, Hairless and Handsome: Meet the Bald Uakari Monkey

Hairless and red-faced may not be typical adjectives to describe good health, but healthy bald uakari monkeys possess both of these qualities. These primates are mostly known for their bright red faces, which are an indicator of good health. Sick bald uakaris tend to develop pale faces.
These monkeys spend most of the year in the tree tops to avoid the seasonal flooding that is characteristic of their Amazonian habitat. During the dry season, they return to the ground to look for seeds. Unfortunately, low birth rates, habitat destruction and deforestation all threaten their existence. Can this wild-looking rainforest denizen persevere?
#4 Dugong

Dugongs are related to manatees and share some physical characteristics of their more well-known cousins. Unlike manatees, however, dugongs have flared tails that resemble dolphin tails. They are also known as “sea cows,” because they use their large, downward-facing mouths to slurp seagrass off the ocean floor. Dugongs are considered by many to be the inspiration behind mermaids.
#5 Fried Egg Jellyfish

Fried egg jellyfish are free-swimming ocean animals with bright yellow domes and trailing tentacles. Also known as the egg-yolk jellyfish, they have bodies made from a jelly-like substance!
