Soan papdi, a native of Uttar Pradesh, is made from ghee, flour, sugar, and cardamom. It’s a very light and flaky sweet that is available in almost every sweet shop in India. You’ll often find vendors on streets selling Soan papdi because of it being one of the most loved sweets. Soan papdi for a lot of people is a childhood memory, because of the way the vendors used to come right to your house and sell those and everyone would love to gorge on them after dinners every night. A simple but very delicious sweet, this is one which no one can say no to.

Learn to make soan papdi: A popular traditional sweet

Ingredients needed to prepare this sweet

– Flour (besan)
– Ghee
– Water
– Crushed lightly green cardamom
– All purpose flour
– Sugar
– Milk

Step 1: Sift the flour together

Soan papdi is both tasty and light, the above sweet can be prepared at home easily without much efforts. One can go about preparing this delicacy at home with few easily available ingredients. To begin with, one take a large bowl and sift gram flour and all-purpose flour together.

The preparation of 4kgs of Soan Papdi in a single go. First, sugar syrup is prepared in a machine and then left to cool. The stringy sugar is then kneaded by four workers to give a structure like a giant rubber band.

Besan flour mixed with dry fruits and ghee is then added to the middle of the loop and beaten again. This process is repeated for quite some time until the Soan Papdi mix became thread-like and soft.

Then, these strands are put in a mould and topped with dry fruits and cut into square pieces. The Soan Papdi boxes are then packaged and sold in the form we know!
